This 74 911 takes a lot from Colin Chapman's design philosophy of " High horsepower may win on the straights but light-weight wins everywhere else".
Compared to today's modern 911's this early impact bumper car looks and feels decidedly dainty. There is something about the raw feel of a lightweight early 911 that today's heavy modern cars just can't replicate.
Here we have a 1974 Australian delivered 911 finished in its original spec colour Sahara Beige with a black interior.
Apart from an early 911 which would be in a completely different $$ ballpark, you probably won't find a lighter format to start your 911 hot rod dream with. This is a narrow-body coupe with no-sunroof and virtually manual everything including the window winders. It even has lightweight fibreglass front / rear bumpers and ducktail.
There’s also lots of other 'go fast' items too ! The most notable of which is a fantastic sounding short stroke 3.2L engine based on a 911SC crankcase, complete with CP race pistons and rods, lightweight valves / springs with titanium retainers, 964 cams, a GT3 oil pump and more. Needless to say it has plenty of grunt and the best bit is we only built it a few years ago.
In the handling department it has a Geiken LSD, Boxster brakes, adjustable Koni shocks and larger sway bars which all make it go around corners like a slot car.
The interior has been given a refresh lately with a pair of ‘unobtanium’ factory sport seats, a new head-lining and new mats. So while being a very raw drive, these small items actually make it a very comfortable car to live with on a (semi) daily basis.
So if you want to terrorize some of the modern 911's at a short twisty race track near you and look especially cool at Cars N' Coffee in your early 911 then this will suit the bill perfectly.
• Also of note - spares included in the sale are the original cracked ( softer magnesium ) crankcase, rear engine lid, steering wheel and , flag-style door mirrors and rear bumper.
We are an independent Porsche specialist operating since 1970 offering servicing, sales, and parts for all Porsche models.
We are located just 10 minutes from Chatswood station on Sydney's North Shore.
We will happily consider all vehicle trade-ins. We can arrange freight for our interstate customers and our financing partners offer some of the most competitive rates you will find, even on the much older air-cooled cars.
Lastly, please only enquire if you are genuinely interested in purchasing THIS car without any silly offers, we get charged $$ for every inquiry we receive so if you still need to clear the purchase with your partner, accountant or your own conscience, enjoy the photos and get back to us when you are really ready to go.
